Augusta, Georgia is situated on the eastern border of the state along the Savannah River. Augusta boasts a charming downtown area that features a unique mix of historic buildings, vibrant arts and culture, and a variety of dining and entertainment options.

Augusta offers many outdoor activities and is well known for hosting the prestigious Masters Golf Tournament, held at the Augusta National Golf Club.

For sailing, the Augusta Sailing Club (ASC) is a popular local sailing club that hosts many regional sailing events, including their annual Halloween Regatta. The ASC has active E Scow and MC Scows. They have an extremely active junior sailing program!

Get Outside

The Augusta Riverwalk is a great way to see the city and the Savannah River. The Riverwalk stretches between 6th and 10th streets and has two levels – the upper level is great for a nice stroll, while the lower level is where you’ll find the beautiful Japanese Gardens.

Ironwood Tavern is a casual tavern and eatery that offers a hearty menu, boasting a variety of American cuisine favorites with many locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is super casual with a sports bar feel as there are multiple tvs scattered throughout, and likely a few locals sitting at the bar. Ironwood’s menu features wood fired pizzas, burgers, salads, wings, and seafood- local favorites are the Mahi Fish and Chips, the Chicken and Waffles, and the Wings- and they offer popular monthly menu specials as well. Ironwood offers a huge specialty cocktail list, as well as wine and beer. The dining room is a bit small, so note that it can get loud at times- a great spot for some excellent wings and a cold Moscow Mule.

A local favorite, Cantina Locale offers both traditional and unique Mexican food favorites. With a menu focused on Tacos, Taco Bowls, and Quesadillas, this is your place if you are craving a Margarita made with phenomenal tequila, Chips and Queso, and some killer Street Tacos. The atmosphere is cute and homey inside, and outside has a large patio, excellent for larger groups of Mexican food loving friends. Note that Cantina Locale has a great Happy Hour as well as a full bar with an extensive selection of tequila.

This locally appreciated neighborhood restaurant and bar chain specializes in thick-cut steaks and seafood, as well as tavern style sandwiches, pasta dishes, and their famous signature nachos. California Dreaming offers a casual atmosphere with comfy booth seating and an open kitchen, a welcoming environment for diners of all ages.

This cute and casual Mediterranean Grill, located in downtown Augusta, serves all of your Mediterranean favorites. Known for their excellent kebabs, falafel, and shawarma, as well as their famous feta fries, there is something for every taste at Laziza. Dine inside in the cute cafe atmosphere or grab a table under an umbrella out front. With tons of vegetarian options and a cute cafe vibe, Laziza Mediterranean Grill is a great spot for a quick and excellent Mediterranean meal.

If you have a hankering for an incredibly high quality and gourmet burger of any kind, Farmhaus Burger is your spot! With a menu that offers dry-aged, double patty beef burgers that are made from a custom grind of Chuck, Brisket, and Short Rib and sourced from local Southeastern Angus Beef, as well as organic Veggie Burgers, Wild Turkey and Chicken Burgers, Burger Specials (Venison Burgers!), Hot dogs made humanely without any antibiotics or hormones, and super yum, all-natural Chicken Wings. This loud and fun burger shop is known and loved for their spiked shakes, incredible Happy Hours, and phenomenal meats and eats. Farmhaus Burger is the perfect place for those looking to eat some Happy Healthy Meat.



Located right near the Augusta Riverwalk in what was once a cotton warehouse, The Boll Weevil Cafe and Sweetery is a charming cafe that offers a diverse menu featuring over 30 homemade desserts, an incredible ‘Southern Delights’ menu, as well a variety of small bites, soups, salads, and sandwiches. Locals love The Boll Weevil’s famous Fried Green Tomatoes, polished off with a slice of their fresh and buttery Lemon Blueberry Cake. The cafe offers an excellent selection of wines to accompany your meal or dessert, available both by the glass and the bottle. The Boll Weevil Cafe and Sweetery is an excellent spot to enjoy a GIANT slice of cake or two, and a yummy, cozy southern meal.

Whiskey Bar Kitchen is an excellent spot to grab a beer, burger, or an outstanding whiskey! Offering a menu that focuses on Japanese and American comfort food, Whiskey Bar Kitchen also offers an extensive array of rare and difficult to find whiskies from all 7 (who knew?!) whiskey regions around the world! Whiskey Bar offers a full service bar, as well as a welcoming and family friendly environment. Inside is exposed brick walls, wooden booths, and a large wooden bar, while outside is standard sidewalk dining, offering a great spot to enjoy a bite and people watch. Burger wise, locals love the Sink Burger with a side of their super yummy onion rings- as well as the Buffalo Chicken Dip and Edamame Sautéed in Garlic Butter Whiskey Sea Salt are all favorites as well. Known for super friendly service and a solid menu of familiar but creative favorites, Whiskey Bar is a great spot for unique whiskey and some excellent elevated comfort food.

Nacho Mama’s is a funky, eclectic Burrito and Mexican food eatery focused on tried and true Mexican classics- burritos, nachos, tacos, and margaritas. This spot offers super casual and fast Mexican Food that is quick and tasty, and known as one of the few places in the area that uses real Mexican flavoring and spices. Nacho Mama’s offers tons of vegetarian options, and is a great spot for a quick lunch or a burrito to go, or a fun happy hour or dinner and drinks out with friends at night. Locals love the Havana Burrito and the Godfather Burrito with mango habanero sauce. You order at the counter at Nacho Mama’s and the line always moves quickly! If dining in, they have a large 2 story dining room with a pool table and a cool vibe, as well as sidewalk dining outside streetside.

Yearning for that old school skating rink vibe? If so, Skateland of Augusta is your rink! A nod to roller rinks of the past, Skateland hosts live music, skating lessons, adult only skate nights, and skating competitions. They offer a fully stocked skate shop, an arcade, and a snack bar, as well as skate rentals for skaters of all ages. Please note, parents admission is free if only watching little ones skate. 

Pendleton King Park (PKP) is an 64 acre urban oasis and bird sanctuary that offers an incredible blend of natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and cultural experiences right in the heart of Augusta. PKP offers great topographic diversity, featuring pine forests, marshes, and sand ridges, and has a variety of  recreational activities such as an 18-hole disc golf course, new playgrounds, nature trails for cycling and walking, a historic family cemetery, an educational tree trail, and a leash free dog park. PKP is also home to a variety of gardens and scenic natural resources, as well as open spaces for picnicking and outdoor play. Please note that there is an information kiosk in the Park with maps, trail information, park information and history, as well as upcoming events.

Dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich history and heritage of the region, the Augusta Museum of History features a diverse collection of artifacts, exhibits, and interactive displays. The museum offers visitors a comprehensive journey through Augusta’s past-  spanning from its Native American roots to its vital role in the American Revolution and Civil War. The museum goes into the vibrant cultural and social history of the 20th century as well-  one highlight is the remarkable James Brown exhibit- it celebrates the legendary musician’s connection to Augusta, and offers an extensive display of historical documents and photographs.
