Trips designed with the Planet in Mind

At Zig Travel, our mission is to create luxury trips while creating a positive impact on our world. We integrate sustainable tourism into our trips by enabling our clients to consider the environmental, social, and economic impact of their travel.

Travel and tourism provide jobs

In 2018, travel and tourism generated $8.8 trillion and bolstered 319 million jobs across the world. Many of these jobs support women and youth.

Sustainable Travel contributes to Biodiversity

Sustainable travel contributes to organizations that protect wildlife and the environment. In addition, eco-tourism often motivates communities to protect their natural resources.

Authentic travel invites empathy

Through authentic travel experiences, travelers grow to understand and appreciate different cultures and landscapes. These connections foster perspective-changing encounters and cultivate empathy in our globalized, industrial world.

how zig travel encourages sustainable tourism

  • We provide opportunities to immerse yourself in local cultures, thus broadening your worldview and perspective.
  • We encourage you to visit less frequented locales to minimize the environmental and social impacts.
  • We prioritize hotels and tour companies with sustainability programs.
  • We can assist with calculating your carbon footprint. We also invite you to offset your carbon emissions with leaders in the sector, including The Ocean Foundation.

Our definition of Sustainable Tourism

We have adopted the definition of Sustainable Tourism as created by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the Earth Council:

“Sustainable Tourism meets the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting and enhancing the opportunity for the future. It is envisaged as leading to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social, and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled while maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity, and life-support systems.”

“Knowing is the key to caring, and with caring there is hope that people will be motivated to take positive actions. They might not care even if they know, but they can’t care if they are unaware.”
